Resource-saving recycled building materials of the future

More than 25 partners from small and medium-sized enterprises, industries and research institutes have founded the cooperation network “RecyBau”.

The aim of the group is to investigate ways how to set-up a regional and sustainable circular economy in the building materials sector.

The network partners will jointly develop innovative solutions for the production of recycling building materials. The recycled building materials are to be manufactured within climate-friendly, regionally structured circular economies and shall be reuseable several times without loss of quality.

To this end, innovations are planned in the fields of sorting processes, building material production, demolition technologies and the treatment of process water. In this way, the network aims at following the recent announcements from the EU parliament for the contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the provisioning of recyclable, resource-saving building materials.

The network partners are located along the entire value chain in the construction sector, thus bundles the competencies with regard to the technological innovations required for the future realization of sustainable buildings made of such resources.

“It is important for us to start realistic and economic development projects that have a prospect of medium-term realization. This collaboration enables an exchange and cooperation with institutions like universities and research institutes and potential customers to find the best way of processing waste into valuable products”, stated Mr. Ulrich Peuser (Head of Technical Laboratory & Development).

The cooperation network was founded by RAS AG and is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy within the framework of the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM).
